About Us

The London Borough of Redbridge is a vibrant, diverse area in northeast London, known for its green spaces, excellent schools, and a strong sense of community. With a rich cultural heritage, Redbridge offers a mix of suburban tranquility and urban convenience, making it a desirable place to live and work.

Our Vision

It’s a challenging time for local government. Rising demand for social care services and homelessness is stretching our finite resources as never before. The Council recognises however that it needs a strong finance team to help navigate these times and these roles are part of investing in growing and strengthening its capacity.

Redbridge is ambitious for its residents. We want Redbridge to be a great place to live for everyone. Our ambition is to genuinely reduce poverty and improve wellbeing for everyone. The Council has the aim that by 2040 we will eradicate child poverty and ensure no area in Redbridge is classified as ‘deprived’. The way we can make a real difference is to focus on the core issues that matter to Redbridge residents. We will focus on safety, health, clean neighbourhoods, a greener environment, skills, jobs, decent homes, and strong communities.

To deliver all our plans, we will work harder to ensure the organisation is as effective as it can be, and that staff are invested in and recognised for the contributions they make. Having good governance, excellent programme management and robust financial systems will enable us to invest time and resources into issues that matter most.

We are a low funded council, and our services are generally low spending at a unit cost level. However the level of demand for our services is such that we are constantly in search of efficiencies and improving effectiveness in order to maintain a balanced budget. We need a professional finance team that does the basics well and gets it right first time, but just as importantly is insightful in its advice, confident in providing constructive challenge, and is able to hold budget holders to account.
